I have a 1988 montero that looks just like the one you have up here THE CAP N CRUNCH BLUE ONE. It is in good condition it has 122,000 miles on it and I know these are rare. If anyone is interested in buying it let me know 765-490-7715. I am wanting to buy a used jeep wrangler 1997-1999 so if you are interested in having this and fixing it up to climb hills give me a call. Keely

Aloha! Check out the Mitsubishi section of http://www.4x4wire.com/forums/ubbthreads.php for top-notch info on the upkeep and modification of Monteros. In my opinion, there is no better source. Lots of very knowledgeable and very helpful people there. I'm there under the same name.

The suspension lift is a combo of a couple things:
Shackles in the rear are extended front shackles used on 1983-1985 Toyota 4x4 pickups (also used the Toyota bushings). Had to shim the rear axle due to pinion-angle change, but some folks haven't seemed to have to.
The front is cranked t-bars, but not cranked all the way (so the ride is not stiff). I swapped out the upper control arms with Gen II Montero UCAs. They are slightly longer and correct the camber after cranking t-bars. The angles on the CV axles are more relaxed and (believe it or not) I actually have quite a lot of flex up front for having IFS. Also trimmed upper bump-stops down about half-way.
