Reader’s Rides & Off Road Vehicles

Hi, My name is Aaron, I live in Ohio, and I am 20 years old. I recently purchased this 1979 1/2 Ton Chevy from a family member. When i bought the truck it was all stock with the exception of the motor. The man I bought it from had swapped the factory 350 for a 400 small block that was in a 1977 Blazor. He had the 400 bored .30 over and replaced the pistons, rings, bearings, lifters, and he also upgraded to a RV cam. I replaced the TH350 automatic Tranny with a SM465 four speed. I put 9" of lift that I purchased from Rough Country. (6" Suspension, 3" Body} The tires are new 38.5-11-15 Super Swamper TSL Boggers. Luckily, the 1/2 ton axels and such have held up; however, my next project is to upgrade to 3/4 ton or 1 ton. I am also planning to paint it as soon as possible. All together I am extremely pleased with it, but I am having second thoughts about hardcore mudding and trail riding this truck! LOL
